Oscar de la Renta left his native Dominican Republic at 18 years of age to study painting at the Academy of San Fernando in Madrid. While living in Spain, he became interested in the world of design and began sketching for leading Spanish fashion houses, which soon led to an apprenticeship with Spain"s most renowned couturier, Cristobal Balenciaga.
Later, Oscar de la Renta left Spain to join Antonio Castillo as a couture assistant at the house of Lanvin in Paris.
In 1963, Oscar de la Renta came to New York to design the couture collection for Elizabeth Arden.
In 1965, Mr. de la Renta began his signature ready to wear label.
The Oscar de la Renta label is comprised of the Signature ready to wear collection and Pink Label. To complement these designs, the Fall 2001 runway show marked the debut of Oscar de la Renta Accessories; bags, belts, jewelry, scarves and shoes.
The world of Oscar de la Renta also includes a high end sportswear collection (OSCAR by Oscar de la Renta), cosmetic cases, eyewear, furs, jewelry, lingerie, scarves, sleepwear, and swimwear.
For men, Mr. de la Renta licenses products, including hosiery, sportcoats, suits, and trousers. In South and Central America and Mexico there is a Sportswear line for men and boys and OSCAR JEANS, for men and women.
Mr. de la Renta has also ventured into the home with both furniture and home fragrance collections, jewelry, eyewear, lingerie, luggage, swimwear, fragrance, and furs. Oscar de la Renta sells its products in upscale department stores and specialty stores worldwide. Apparel is produced in the US. Dominican Republic born designer and owner Oscar de la Renta and partner Ben Shaw (now deceased) founded the company in 1966.

WELLINGTON, Oct 1 (Reuters) - Former Australia coach Robbie Deans has indicated he would like to lead the All Blacks again one day and believes his five years with the Wallabies has only improved him as a coach.
Deans, who was an assistant under John Mitchell from 2001-2003, applied for the All Blacks job in 2007 but was overlooked for the then incumbent coaching panel of Graham Henry, Steve Hansen and Wayne Smith.
He then crossed the Tasman Sea for an interview at Australian Rugby Union headquarters and was immediately appointed to the Wallabies, starting in 2008 after a successful tenure at Super Rugby's Canterbury Crusaders.
The 55-year-old Deans resigned after the Wallabies lost to the British and Irish Lions last year and took some time off before linking up with Panasonic Wild Knights in Japan.
The former All Blacks full back, who is promoting his biography, told The Press newspaper he would give serious consideration to reapplying for the job when it becomes vacant and felt his Wallabies' experience had made him a better coach.
"There is no doubt I am better as a coach, and a person, and that stint I had with the Wallabies was fantastic," Deans told The Press on Wednesday. "There is nothing like experience -- it is like training and playing.
"I thought my apprenticeship was pretty well complete prior to taking on the Wallabies and every experience adds value, not only in knowledge but with your skill set too, you know."
Deans will have to wait until at least after next year's World Cup in England, and possibly longer, to apply for the most high-profile job in world rugby.
IMPRESSIVE RECORD
Hansen was appointed following the successful 2011 campaign and has fashioned an impressive record with the team.
The All Blacks have lost one of their 36 games in Hansen's tenure, winning 33 and drawing two.
He is contracted until the 2015 World Cup but has given no indication publicly as to his plans beyond that.
Deans added that having coached New Zealand's trans-Tasman rivals should not count against him if he did apply for the job the next time it becomes vacant.
He pointed to Henry and Hansen having coached Wales before joining the All Blacks in 2004.
"They came back better for it," Deans told the newspaper.
Pundits have also suggested current Wales and 2013 Lions coach Warren Gatland, Ireland's Joe Schmidt and Scotland's Vern Cotter could be future contenders having also cut their teeth with other international sides. (Reporting by Greg Stutchbury; Editing by Ken Ferris)

Ana Beatriz Barros (born 29 May 1982) is a Brazilian model known for her work with Guess?, Bebe, Victoria’s Secret, Chanel cosmetics, and Jennifer Lopez’s JLo fashion line. I am the owner of ManMagnet Lingerie, an on-line store that offers plus size corsets, bustiers, hosiery and other plus size lingerie and more for the plus size woman. I was a military brat and I am a veteran of the United States Air Force. Before starting my on-line business in plus-size lingerie, 2010 was a very humbling year for me. In June, I lost the apartment I had been renting for seven years to foreclosure. (I lived next door to serial killer Dorothea Puente’s old house.) I was the last tenant to go and I stayed there for as long as I could without paying rent for the last few months. Before I left, there were two homeless veterans living in the apartment next to mine. They were working with a lawyer who was trying to get them their Social Security benefits. They were nice guys, but they sure did smoke a lot of cigarettes! I was always afraid to step into their place, especially after I had already taken a shower. I just knew I would end up smelling like cigarettes after I left their place! Anyway, I ended up getting paid $2000 from the company that had taken over the property through the Cash for Keys program. Initially, they were trying to take me to court for non-payment of rent. But it all worked out. I used most of the money to get some much needed maintenance on my truck. Then in September, I was terminated from my job of 8.5 years with the County for a violation of their internet policy which I may elaborate more on in the future. To make a long story short, this little incident snowballed and I was terminated in September 2010. The worst part of being terminated was that the County denied my unemployment benefits after working for them for 8.5 years! I tried to appeal the determination but to no avail. So now I was homeless and jobless (except for some part-time income from taking care of my mom.) But sometimes I wouldn’t get paid for that either because my mom would have a share of cost. It’s tough. I have been working for 35 years since I was 15 years old. And now I have been unemployed for 16 months! That’s the longest period of time that I have been unemployed. In the old days, it was easy to find another job through newspapers or a temp agency. But since the economy is bad, there are a lot more folks out there trying to find work now. It’s crazy! So I decided at this point, maybe I should start my own business. Working for somebody else for 10 or 20 years just doesn’t seem to be as secure as it used to be. I bought a book off an infomercial on affiliate marketing then after reading that and finding it wasn’t going to be as easy as I thought, I enrolled in a PMI Education course to help learn about starting and marketing a business and eventually helping me with the affiliate marketing phase of business. And that’s where I am right now. I decided that I love lingerie, so why not sell lingerie? My niche market is plus-size lingerie. I’m still struggling trying to get traffic to my website because marketing on-line is all new to me. There is so much to learn and I have a long learning curve. I want everything to happen yesterday but it just takes time. I need to keep the faith and keep working at it. It’ll happen…I hope…
